Ubisoft recently held its showcase and had a 30-minute section dedicated to the Assassin's Creed franchise. During the Ubisoft Forward, three new major Assassin's Creed games were announced along with Assassin's Creed Infinity. The full showcase can be found below.
Assassin's Creed Infinity is a new platform and hub, not a game. Infinity will be the entry point into the series in the future that will unite different games and players together in “meaningful ways” with the potential for a standalone multiplayer experience. However, this took a bit of a back burner.
The biggest announcement was Assassin's Creed Mirage. Set in ninth century CE Baghdad, it follows new assassin Basim as he joins The Hidden Ones. The “cunning street thief” is plagued with “nightmarish visions” and his attempts to seek answers and justice lead him to the assassins and the Creed. Ubisoft confirms AC Mirage will release in 2023.
Ubisoft also provided a little bit of information for the first two games for the Infinity platform. Assassin's Creed Codename Red was revealed to be set in feudal Japan, a setting frequently requested by fans of the series. We were also given a teaser for Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe which seems to suggest witchcraft will play a major role.
