The Dark Souls 3 SteamDB page shows that a new update has been released for users that have access to the debug versions of the game. This is the first update for Dark Souls 3 in several years and comes following a serious security issue. It was revealed earlier this year that there was an issue affecting Dark Souls 3 and previous Dark Souls games.
To combat this issue, Bandai Namco took the online servers down for Dark Souls 3 while they investigated and fixed the issue. The PvP servers for Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 were all temporarily deactivated while the security issue was addressed. Bandai Namco has previously stated that they intend to restore the online service for each game once the problem was fixed.
It looks like Bandai Namco is testing some new patches for the upcoming server restoration to bring the PvP servers back online. Hopefully, this means we'll be receiving news from the publisher soon about when to expect the security issue to be fixed.
