Bungie has posted a rather stern notification on the official Destiny 2 Help Page. The developer has issued a warning to players not to try to launch the game on the Steam Deck, and word of this is slowly spreading among fans. According to Bungie, "Destiny 2 is not supported for play on the Steam Deck."
The page notes that Destiny 2 isn't supported for Steam Deck or “on any system utilising Steam Play's Proton unless Windows is installed and running”. Players who try to launch the game from the Steam Deck via SteamOS or Proton "will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time."
While many fans are disappointed, they are surprised that Bungie is threatening bans. The developer states that “players who attempt to bypass Destiny 2 incompatibility will be met with a game ban”. Bungie failed to give an explanation for the incompatibility or the threat of a ban.
