The Pokemon Company has finally announced that Ash Ketchum's Pokemon journey is coming to the end.
Ash first set out on his adventure in April 1997 with the Indigo League where he befriended a cautious Pikachu, saved a Charmander and teamed up with Brock and Misty. He's been the star of the Pokemon anime and movies since then. Ash and Pikachu have been the iconic Pokemon duo that millions grew up with but younger generations will be growing up with new characters instead.
The two new protagonists are Riko and Roy who will be exploring new lands with the Paldea starter Pokemon. From April 2023 onwards, they will be the new main characters for the Pokemon anime.
While Ash's journey is coming to an end, it's not over just yet. There are 11 more special episodes to be released for Pokemon Ultimate Journeys which is where we will be saying farewell to the Pokemon anime's most recognisable character. The episodes will air in Japan starting from January 13th 2023 and are the final chapters in the story of Ash and Pikachu.
